Hand Position

Positioning your hands in the "10 and 2" position on the steering wheel is recommended for safety while driving. However, keeping your hands in one gripping position for long periods of time can lead to excessive tension not only in the hands but all the way through the arms to the neck.

Particularly when stopped or when it is safe to do so, I advise changing hand positions and stretching the hands:

- turn the palms face up holding the inside of the wheel

- spread out the whole palm and fingers on the face of the wheel

- hold the bottom of the wheel with the palms up and fingers straight and yearn the palms upward to stretch the fingers back
