How exposure to cold immersion and exercise
with the assistance of psychological flexibility and metaphor
create greater resiliency in life’s difficult situations.
Have you ever been held back by procrastination?
You’ve wanted to “dive in” and make some changes in your life, but found yourself putting it off until tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow…
Have you been curious about getting into cold immersion, but have hesitated so far?
Have you seen people taking courageous leaps into icy water - felt intrigued - but said “I could never do that?”
Let’s take a look at how intentionally introducing ourselves to controlled stressful situations can be used to develop our resiliency and willingness to step through difficult situations in life.
We’ll discuss the paradoxical effects of seeking comfort
We’ll talk about some practices of psychological flexibility and how to use them in our exposure to stress.
We’ll explore practices that deepen presence and help us separate from our painful thoughts.
Also, we’ll use metaphors to visualize how our controlled experiments with stress can help in real life situations.
We’ll also touch on the beneficial, adaptive effects of practices such as cold immersion and exercise.
Using the cold you can:
Learn to keep perspective when stressful situations arise
Learn to make choices led from a wiser part of yourself that is capable of being unfazed by the circumstances around you.
Tap into your inner resources for resiliency and feeling truly alive.
Understand how the process of immersion and exposure can also be applied to exercise as well as any desired activity that brings up hesitancy and resistance.
Make friends with that part of you that holds you back from pursuing the goals and changes you dream of, and learn to take more meaningful steps toward those goals with less stress.
This meeting will give you resources and a blueprint for developing a practice of resiliency and mindfulness whether it’s in cold immersion, or exercise, or some other desired activity.
The meeting will also serve as an introduction to a short 4 session course on how to take small steps into a cold exposure practice and use that for other goals and dreams in your life.
Attend just to give yourself some useful tips for jumping off on your own, or to give yourself the extra commitment needed to establish this life changing practice.
What will we actually do at this meeting?
We’ll talk through the topics mentioned above
We’ll have an opportunity to touch the cold with immersion into a beautiful pond.
(no pressure, and it’s suggested to go in only as far as you’re comfortable in this session)There’s also a sauna! And we’ll be able to warm up and relax to offset the cold.
