In the modern world, most conventional exercise in artificial settings, such as a gym, only provide our bodies with a fraction of the ways we could be moving. Exercise often consists of limited, repetitive motions which have little context in terms of useful skills and often induce boredom which makes routines hard to stick with in the long term.
Moving in Nature provides endless variation and challenges which encourage our bodies to move in accord with our evolutionary needs.
Let’s explore some foundational elements of movement in relationship with the natural world.
We’ll begin with moving our own bodies on the ground, and then explore how we interact with other objects and obstacles.
As we build our skills in natural movement, you may find exercise becomes more like play and the world becomes our playground.
