While You Walk
While You Walk, awaken the natural gait that will keep your whole body healthier for life!
Through this course,
you’ll go out walking
to discover the alignment in the body,
and through travel-sized exercises and games,
develop a posterior driven gait.
Unless we have an injury or a specific condition, we often take walking for granted. And in terms of exercise, walking is sometimes considered boring or maybe not challenging enough to really improve our fitness. However, walking is one of the primary activities that defines our species and it is still one of the best things we can do for our bodies.
Mainly due to the conveniences of modern life such as the design of our shoes, overuse of our chairs, and our main modes of transportation, our way of walking has shifted from the natural motor programs of a posterior driven gait, where the backside of our legs drives our leg backwards in order to propel our body forward, and has become more of a series of controlled falls.
When falling forward and catching yourself becomes the predominant method of walking, our hips and backsides get weaker, and each step in which we catch ourselves from falling causes micro-traumas to our joints which, although imperceptible in the moment, over time could lead to ailments such as fallen arches, bunions, deterioration of the ankles, knees and hips, along with back strain and even hyper kyphosis. Also, we may find we lose our ability to balance as we age making us more prone to injurious falls.
The good news is you can prevent or fix this!
In this program, rather than leading you through exercises in a gym or at home, I’d like you to take this program out with you as you walk!
In each video, you’ll be guided through specific exercises, alignment tips, and games you can play while out walking.
You’ll feel a difference in your body as you develop a new appreciation and love for one of the most important activities we can do for ourselves.
